Well a good place to start is anywhere that has odd and end Drip Irrigation installation tutorials. It sounds like a very basic, automatic drip system should do the job. And they are a sinch to lock and load.

Are you wanting to be able to adjust the amount of water that is dispensed to individual plants? Or will it be okay if a large group gets the same amount of water?

Either way, a basic, automatic drip irrigation system should be just fine. Give me some more information and I will try to provide you with the proper sources.

I would like to be able to adjust the amount of water going to each plant, if possible.

As the seasons change and I rotate plants in and out, the amount and size of the pots will vary depending on what I'm planting... so, I imagine that having a one-size-fits-all (or a one-size-fits-many) solution will not be the way to go, but I've been wrong before!

I am looking into a more automated system because there will be several stretches throughout the year up to two weeks long where I will not be around to turn the water on/off.

Another great resource is Dripworks. They have everything you could possibly need to setup a drip irrigation system. You can order different types of emitters so that some will put out more water than others.

I had no idea what I was doing so I used their free design service. I sent them a layout of my garden, and they sent me a diagram of everything I needed and told me exactly where to put it. When I ordered the system it came pretty quickly and was fairly easy to install (even for a novice like me). I would highly recommend them.
