Need system (holding tank/pressure tank) for 7000 gallons a day?

Hi all, first post here but have read though a bunch of the messages! Thanks for the help in advance.

I have a large property and need to use approx 7000 gallons of water a day for irrigation. Can anyone help me with a setup that would work for a deep well pump system. I was looking into going with a 2000 holding tank from the well pump and running a second pump to pump the water into smaller pressure tanks. Is that ideal or should the water go right from the well into pressure tanks? If so, how large should the pressure tanks be to handle 7000 gallons a day? Are there some calculations for that?

Thanks again!!

Hi lobell,

Does your land have good slopes or is it flat? How many square feet is a large yard? Do you irrigate 24 hrs or 12 hr or 8 hrs or another time period to use 7,000 gal? How many square feet is the area that you need to irrigate? How do you measure your 7,000 gallons/day? This is a time versus gallons problem. Example: 20 gal/min gives you 20 g/m x 60 m/hr x 6 hr/day = 7,200 gallons/day. What flow and pressure does your pump produce? All that you are asking depends on your system output and daily need. Please state why you think pressure tanks would be an advantage to direct controller irrigation from the pump. Where does your house water come from? Aloha
