Recycling + Watering = Success

Take a water/soda bottle, cut off the bottom and throw the lid away. Now turn it upside down and "plant" it in the garden with 1/2" to 1" sticking out of the ground. Fill with water from the garden hose and the water will slowly "leak" from the bottle into the ground. Saves from wasting runoff water, especially on steep slopes. Plants love it. Use it to fertilize, too. Add the fertilizer to each bottle and it will slowly fertilize the roots of the plant where it needs to be. Won't run off. Won't take 6 months to reach the roots from the top of the soil. After plants sprout the bottles won't be seen (especially important in flower gardens). Looks nice and easy to use. You're going Green in more than one way!
