Good time to do a irrigation 'blowout'

This is our first irrigation system (Rainbird) & our installer/contractor wants to come out & winterize our irrigation by blowing out the system & preppping the backflow preventer.

Is there a good time to do this in Central VA?

He was suggesting Nov 1st but my lawn contractor said to do winterize starting in mid-Nov to early Dec because I should be watering up till then.

Advice?

pb,

What type of lawn grass do you have planted? It makes a difference. Aloha

pb,

Wait as long as possible since you have cool season grass. Water less frequently but water. Fall is a time of year to feed Fescue. If you are in the right zone it will remain green through the winter. JMHO Aloha
