Lawn pump drain scew

I have a lawn pump here in Pensacola, FL. Had it for 3 yrs now and I take out the drain screw every yr at the end of Nov... Well, the threads are getting rusty and the screw might not go in next spring. ? is, is there a way to drill new threads and put a bigger bolt in?? Don't want to replace the pump just for a screw. Thanks.

sigma693, teflon tape might work. You can also get a slightly larger drill bit, a matching tap and matching screw or bolt and it will be as good as new.

Once you get the threads cleaned up, install a ball valve so you don't have to take the plug out every year.

Never heard of a ball valve. What does it look like and where can I get it? Is it just operated by a lever - on/off? Thanks.
