I'll be sowing these today and was wondering when do the annual Hibiscus normally bloom? How tall or bushy can I expect them to get? Tell me what you know about these please! I guess I should have been asking this when I made the trade lol! I was just so excited about something new...sheesh!

Are you referring to the H. manihot (yellow variety) or which?

RE: Annual Hibiscus

I have no idea. I got it in trade marked Hibiscus; white w/purple center.

Sounds like Hibiscus trionum flower of an hour.
They get 2-3' tall.

Thanks Ron, I hope that's not it!

Vera,

How large were the seeds? If they were smaller than perennial Hibiscus seeds, they are most likely H. trionum.

I would say that seed is about the same, maybe slighly larger than a seed bead.

Well I do beadwork and the seed beads I work with are very small 15's or standard size 11's :)
I'm posting a pic of the seeds here to see what you think:

This one is taken from about 8" over plate and the 2nd one about 4"....

RE: Annual Hibiscus

Hard to tell, but yours look kidney (or heart) shaped (kind of)....if so, they are not H. trionum. :o)

Wonderful! They do look like tiny hearts :))
So now I'll have to find out what other Hibiscus have these same color of flowers. I did find the trader last night and have emailed her...am waiting for a response.

Thanks again!
