| The mailman dropped off a package today, containing two Topsy Turvys.
My crazy old FIL sent them to me as a surprise gag gift. I guess I'll have to try them out. I'm thinking a Tomato in one, and a Bell Pepper in the other. |

| That does sound like fun. I'd love to know how well they work. |

| Love it! Have fun! |

| Here they are, as of this morning. I used a piece of scrap mahogany, mounted to a piling on the bulkhead, and hid the drip irrigation tubing behind split bamboo. Sorry for the poor pic, but it's dark and rainy this morning. The 'maters are 'Pasture Cherry,' which is reputed to be a large plant and a heavy cropper. I have two more in the ground, and, so far, they're all the same size, and all are flowering and setting fruit. I expect I'll have to start supporting them with ties from above. My only complaint, so far, is the ugliness of the planters. If they work well enough to consider using them again, I'll disguise them with something like terra cotta drain tiles. |
