Help me remember what this is....

This popped up in one of my beds, I am sure I planted it, in fact, I probably started it from seed last year.

I can't figure out what it is, though.

Any thoughts? (this is a link to the Name That Plant forum)....

Here is a link that might be useful: Mystery plant

My first thought was Platycodon too, even before I saw that response. Awfully early, but you are in a slightly warmer area than mine, I suppose. You should see blossoms soon. :-)

RE: Help me remember what this is....

I hope so! The Lunaria that I grew from seed last year has purple buds...guess it will be putting on a show soon. I didn't know they would bloom this early.

It seems as though the plants that are closer to the ground are waking up much more quickly than the trees and shrubs. Wonder if that is because the ground never froze here.

The trees might be triggered by daylight hours....

RE: Help me remember what this is....

I agree that the plant is platycodon or balloon flower. Mine look about the same as yours.

My knee jerk was platy too. It looks more like my tall pinks than my shorter whites and blues. Enjoy! Enjoy those lunarias too.
