Now is the time to buy your potting mix

If you have been to any of the stores lately, you'll see that they are already stocking Holiday/Christmas items, although Halloween hasn't even come yet. Now is the time to buy your potting mix because if you wait till Jan. when you start WS, what's in stock will be frozen. I've been storing my potting mix, and mulch in large Rubbermaid tubs in the garage. I use the WW meausuring spoons(1 c. and 1/2 c.)or a qt. flower pot to dip out the potting mix as I need it. I also keep a Homer Bucket full so I don't have to lift the large tub when I need some potting mix or mulch or Leaf Gro.

I learned the hard way that soil does freeze when kept outside by places like Home Depot or Lowes(using them as an example). Frozen soil is heavy to lift out of car or truck and it took 2 days for it to thaw out once I dumped it into the big tub.
