| I have a few questions and I've only been a member for a month.
1. I have gotten iris tubors in the mail and I'm not sure how to store them until I plant them in the spring? I'm zone 5. 2. I got seeds in a seed exchange and I'm wondering if the perennial and or annual seeds need to be stored in a cool environment until I start to plant them? 3. Do you recommend starting seeds indoors under a grow lamp? I have heard of mildew/mold trouble. Can you really start some outdoors in plastic bags? (even though its winter). Is there one kind perennial or annual that is best to start first? Any info. you offer would be so appreciated!!

| Traci, Winter Sowing (WS) is a wonderful way to make it through the winter blahs. You use containers (plastic milk cartons, soda bottles, juice bottles, salad containers, plastic bags to create a mini greenhouse for your seeds. Many varieties can be WS - perennials and annuals. The hardy perennials can be sown now and the annuals in a few more weeks, depending on what zone you're in. I can guarantee that you will love WSing. It's a blast to see little green sprouts when the rest of the world is gray. Cheers, Ann |
