WANTED: Aconitum (monkshood) seeds

If anyone out there will be harvesting fresh seed this fall from their aconitum, I would like some. I don't care about the color, so long as the colors, cultivars or what have you are kept separate. I have a few seeds I could share, but not many. Thanks!

Karen

I'm bumping this because I'm still interested in aconitum seeds...and yes, I know they are very poisonous, as are a lot of things in our gardens.

I have seedpods on my Aconitum right now. My fingers are crossed that I'll get viable seed---the pods are still green, and it was 23 degrees last night. If you will e-mail me in about two weeks, I'll be happy to share if I get good seeds.

RE: WANTED: Aconitum (monkshood) seeds

Hi Tepelus & garden friends! I have a question about harvesting the Acontium seeds: I have several green pods on my plants that I've been anxiously watching for weeks now...and watching...and watching...and nothing seems to be changing with them. What should I expect to happen? Its already well into the 20s here at night and Im hoping to get seeds from these beautiful plants but I dont know what to look for! (note: there are some black, shrivelled parts in with the nice fat green pods, I figured these weren't any good...now Im wondering, are THESE the seeds I want?)

Confused,
Kerry

karen and weebay-- i don't know why it never occurred to me to check the monkshood for seeds. i just went out and miracle of miracles there are still some left in some of the pods, but not many. they should probably be dried for a few days before i commit to anything and send them out, but let me know if you're interested and we'll see what happens from there.
