I plant some of these every year.

Lance-leafed coreopsis (tickseed) always reliable.

Thanks Don. The Early Sunrise coreopsis especially is a nice treat on a dark rainy morning, may be an old standby to you but it's one I haven't grown. You just gave me a timely reminder I have a spot that could use something short and warm - yellow would meet the criteria :)

Very very pretty! You do a good job growing them, they all look lush!

RE: Old Standbys

Since scabiosa attracts finches I may have to find some more seeds of that one. I thought I had some blue scabiosa that I got in a trade, I looked in the pack and nothing was in it. So I am not sure if I received it like that or they all fell out somewhere. Oh well I guess I will add that to my want list, lol.

I have blue finches in the area but the gold or yellow are far and few inbetween!!

morz8, I have seeds of the early sunrise coreopsis I can send you. However the other day I tried to change the date of my birth from Jan to Feb. My twin sister and I were born on February 22. After I submitted it, I checked "My Page" to see if it was corrected. It was not and I saw I lost my email link. When it is corrected, click my email and give me your address and I will send some seeds to you.

Don, do you find your coreopsis is short lived??

 o
RE: Old Standbys

Yes it is short lived. I winter sowed that early sunrise coreopsis last year and it bloomed last year.

I got my first coreopsis actually retail. Then I grew some from seed. I had 3 types, lance leaf, tinctoria and baby sun. The tinctoria (hoping I am spelling that right) is horrible. I can't get rid of that and it goes everywhere. My baby sun last usually 3 years from seed. Then it is not anything to look at in the garden.

Coreopsis has such a long bloom I wonder if there is a type that last a little longer.

Don, you are a little stinker!!! I can't believe you sent me those. Thank you so much you are so sweet, you know you did not have to send me that scabiosa. Though since you did I will always treasure it, cause I love finches!!

Big hugs to you Don!!!
