The Official 2009/210 Container Count-part three

Posted by brandymulvaine (My Page) on

Please post here AFTER the other thread is full!!

The "rules"

Please post only NEW containers and not a running total.
Example: If your 1st post is 30 containers and you later sow another 30 containers your 2nd post should reflect only the additional 30 containers.
You can post your total as long as you indicate the number of new containers.
Example: "Zone 5 : Add 30 more containers for me. My total is now 60. "

Remember to add your zone to each post so we can see totals by zone.

I will update the totals on a regular basis and start a new post as needed.

Thanks!!
-B

RE: The Official 2009/210 Container Count-part three

Hi ya all - newbe to WS this year.

So far, 64 milk jugs.

Getting more containers ready as soon as I get home from work (paid the grandkids 5 cents per jug and apparently even the little ones know where to earn "easy" money. ha ha.)

It's amazing how well the cluster of filled jugs can sit in a 5 foot snow bank without sliding or tipping over (okay, we've had enough snow here in NW Iowa to provide moisture at least until July 2010!)

LOL, if this is meant for me, it doesn't apply. :-) I'm using 2 liter soda bottles and gal milk jugs.

64 Jugs for Zone 4 (forgot to label my zone on the posting above). Like I said, I'm new to this winter sowing---and apparently new to remembering to list quantity in addition to zone.

Heres a "ROOT" for zone 4: Root-a-toot-toot-toot!

I can't wait for these White Texas Star hibiscus blooms. Or the Chocolate Joe Pye weed. Or the Snow on the Mountain. Or the solidago fireworks. Or the...who am I kidding. I can't wait for any blooms in the dead of winter.

 o
RE: The Official 2009/210 Container Count-part three

52 containers for zone 5.

This should conclude my perennial containers. I hope to add annuals in April sometime if you're still counting by then.

I should say this is my first post here even though this is my forth year winter sowing. You've all been very inspiring! It would have taken me many more years using my limited amount of lights. I can't thank you all enough!

 o
RE: The Official 2009/210 Container Count-part three

 o
RE: The Official 2009/210 Container Count-part three

64 more containers for Zone 5.

This is my first post, so it is my total count so far as well. Hope to add more soon...I just got another big bag of potting mix!

 o
RE: The Official 2009/210 Container Count-part three

Three more for zone 7. (Gee, I was busy winter sowing today, huh? Personal total now 54.)

 o
RE: The Official 2009/210 Container Count-part three

Add another 27 for zone 5. I'm up to 109 now.

 o
RE: The Official 2009/210 Container Count-part three

7 more today for z5, total 52.

If I sow a large container w/tp rolls, dividers or packs in flats, guess I'll still count it as one container. It's not like I'm in a race (against myself to get it done maybe) here, and the worst of it is if all or just half of it germinates, I don't exactly have a plan where to put it all.

 o
RE: The Official 2009/210 Container Count-part three

Add 9 more for zone 6

 o
RE: The Official 2009/210 Container Count-part three

Hi Brandy, sorry to hear about your co-worker!

I got busy today and WS 18 jugs for zone 5.

That brings my total up to 47. It doesn't sound like that many, but the patio's starting to fill up! The milk jugs definitely take up more room than the 2L bottles did.
