I think you're containers are fine. I had a few last year that had some drainage issues, so I just added a couple of extra drain holes near the side/bottom. Moisture, draining, settling are part of the process. Some of the seeds might have shifted around and grow closer together than you expected. Thats the surprise element with winter sowing, what and how the seeds emerge in the spring.

I agree with Sara. Adding holes slightly above ground level will allow drainage when the bottom ones get plugged. As long as the seeds weren't in the water for a very long time they should germinate where they settle.

If you have any sprouts that grow super close together, I usually don't separate them but plant them together 'hunk of seedling' style. Seems much easier, at least for me, to do that rather than separate them. Everyone seems to have a method that works best for them. Let us know how everything turns out.

I take a box cutter (no children on premises) and slice a couple of slits under the bottom. Sunshine, you might want to look at your holes from the rear end before adding the soil. I use a drill to make holes sometimes the plastic is still a narrow and small in diameter in comparison to the diameter of the hole viewed from within the jug. I hope this helps. Happy Sowing!
