Hi, I'm in the middle of winter sowing. Do cosmos germinate better if WS? I'll be going away for 7 weeks and would rather wait to plant them, if possible. I don't want them germinating in the jugs if I'm not here. I can plant them direct during the 4th week in March. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Cosmos don't need chilling for successful WSing. You can wait until March to WS if you want. Or DS them after danger of frost is past in your zone. Good luck, Ann

Last year I sowed my Cosmos seeds in milk jugs on March 20th, and they sprouted on March 26th here in Zone 6b. I sowed Cosmos bippinatus; the Comsos 'Sonata White', and Cosmos 'Sensation Mix'. Didn't sow any Cosmos sulphureus (the yellow & orange kind) such as 'Ladybird' or 'Klondike'...not sure about those.
