| Well it started as I had to run to walmart and run a few other errands well before I took off I decided to check on my babies. Well you guys I found more germination!! My dill, my marojam and best of all my Lupinus perenis, wild prairie lupine have all started germinating.
That isn't all of it, while I was in walmart I said well I will just check to see if they have their seeds. Well they do!! So I scored some seeds and I got germination. What a good day!! It isn't long till spring now!!

| I found the same thing at Lowes this morning! My walmart didn't have seeds out when I stopped yesterday...found the lowes seeds still loaded on the forklift. :) |
RE: What a Good Day!! Walmart has seeds in!!

| Me I would of been climbing on that forklift and saying hey boys when you going to get them seeds down, lol!! |
RE: What a Good Day!! Walmart has seeds in!!

| you don't think the fact they were on the forklift stopped me, do you? of course it didn't! I only bought 6 packs...and 3 more bags of soil...and I absolutely forgot the rock salt I went in there for. |

| Our Wal-Mart doesn't have any seeds in yet. The Dollar General is the only place downtown that has seeds right now. Congrats! I'll have to look next time I'm there. Brad AKA Moonwolf |

| It seriously looked like they were just put out. Down here lol we like our collard greens and turnip greens you could tell that the american seed company that the only seeds really taken were from the collard and turnips, lol!! The ferry morse seeds really hadn't been touched!! I don't know about you guys but I have purchased a lot of those seeds from american seed company and I think they are great for the price!! I mean heck 20 cents for a pack of seeds!! |

| Our WalMart has seeds but not really out, they are rather hidden in a little niche near the seed starting mix. |

Carolyn, I just asked if anymore of you newbies were popping up! Post pictures for us still deep in snow! I went to Walmart and HD they won't be getting seeds in until End of Feb or 1st week in March. But I've been keeping Swallowtail pretty busy. |

| Well here is the picture I took the same day of this post. You really have to look close for the dill but it has germinated. It is the one on the right of the virginia stock. You can click on these pictures and make them bigger if need be!!
Here is the lupinus perennis!!
I didn't take one of the marojam but I can do that this weekend!! |
RE: 1 more for you!!

| Ladyrose your more than welcome and thank you for asking me to post them cause it was my pleasure. Tonight will be the true test for my babies that have germinated. Tonight it is suppose to drop to 11F and the high today was only 23F tomorrow the high is 31F. So I guess I will report next week if I lost my babies or what. We have been having temps high of mid 40's lows to high 20's. By the way I did nothing at all to protect them, I just kept them in the same container in the same position and everything. I got faith, I ain't scared!! I think they will be just fine!! |

| our walmart does not have the american seeds yet just fm...but dollar store has 3 for a dollar seed...needed some like i needed a hole in the head but guess what..got them anyway :). yeah countrycarolyn you close to me well within a state, not the point the point is if you got a tulip popping up i am tickled pink, so sick of winter but have so many more seeds to sow, double edge sword lol. |

| Those dollar store seeds aren't bad either. I even like to go to tractor supply at the end of season and buy their seeds for like a dime or a nickel. Then I use them the next year. They usually do really good for me also. I can't say that I have ever bought a pack of seeds from lowes, if I have it might of been one pack. Their seeds seem to be a little more pricier!! I am to dog gone cheap to pay 3.00 for a pack of seed in the store!! |

| Was at our local Wallyworld last night and they still don't have their seeds put out! I think Farm&Fleet may have but I didn't have time to stop there. They usually have a large assortment of a few different brands. Menard's only carries Burpee so I don't bother with them...too pricey. Dollar General has a few set out, but I'm waiting for their potting soil. One brand they carry is pretty nice...it's kind of a combo of 'soil' and 'mix' in texture. I like it better than MG. Can't remember the name off hand...it's in a blue and pink bag. |

| I am not close to any Walmart or Lowes, but our local Ace Hardware has had seeds out for 2 weeks. They sell Livingston Seeds and they're about $1.29/pack. I snapped up several packets of tall Zinnias, both Cut & Come Again and State Fair, the butterflies love them! They have good quantities in their packets. One of the local nurseries had seeds out the other day too - the expensive brands like Botanical Interests, which has good seeds but they're about $2-3.00/pack and there didn't seem to be many seeds in the packs (reminds me of the skimpy quantities in Parks packets). |

| Our area stores have seeds now and I am so excited. But what is exciting me more this year is the selection of hostas! I cannot wait for my car to get unstuck from the snow to go and get some! |
RE: What a Good Day!! Walmart has seeds in!!

| I went back to walmart last night and you know I noticed on a few packs of ferry morse seeds, like the yellow onions, lettuces and mesculin that over the packing date they actually have a sticker on them with a date for this year. I seriously wonder if the company got back the seed from past years and just put a new packing date on them and covered the old with this sticker. Kinda tacky, of course old seed doesn't bother me but I still think it is tacky!! I will say this I have always had great germination rates with ferry morse seeds, actually some of the best I get of all seeds that I have ever tried, but it is still tacky and misleading. I say discount those boogers!! LOL |

I would like to put out a word of encourgament to all thoese who will be buying hosta this year from the big box stores, and wal mart, please google HVX Virus,on hosta. It has become a Huge problem,be weary of Menards as well. They do not care if you buy a sick hosta, once in your garden, it can spread to all your other hosta, wiping out your whole collection. Please,PLEASE,read up on this, and share the information with all your friends,Yes, It Is This Important. Only buy from well know nurserys. The virus can look very pretty, and some will tell you it is a new variety, know what you are looking for,Please. cAROL |

Oh, one more thing, you can go over to the Hosta Forum, ask any questions over there you might have,I could tell you also, but I believe if you look it up yourself, it will stick in your mind better, remember,a good deal, is not always the case. cAROL |
RE: What a Good ! Walmart has seeds in!!

I'm bumping this so more will read up about Hosta, very important. cAROL |
RE: What a Good Day!! Walmart has seeds in!!

cAROL thanks for the heads up. I don't have many hosta, but would hate to lose them. Only 1 named variety, not from a big box store. Of course, it's on the list of highly susceptible plants. :( Only found 1 picture of it from last year, but I don't remember it looking like the pics of the diseased examples of the variety. Your opinion? Sorry it's not very sharp. I cropped and enlarged. It's golden tiara. Sorry CC, hope you don't mind me dropping this into your thread! |
RE: What a Good Day!! Walmart has seeds in!!

Golden Tiara,is one to carry this virus, yours looks ok, but it is hard to tell, you can order test stripes,to find out for sure if it is negitive, or, positive. It is so good to know you looked it up, and want to help put a stop to this awful virus,I for one, thank you, spread the word,:0) cAROL |
