Ooohhh...That means mine will start sprouting soon, too! We have had some crazy warm weather since the ice storm. Up in the 50's. Been feeling like sippin' Pina Coladas all week, lol!

Hooray! I can't wait to see sprouts on my first attempt, too!

 o
RE: i got some annuals sprouting. very exciting

Hey, do you need somebody to help you drink those Pina coladas? I'll volunteer..my favorite mixed drink!

I ws more today, mainly herbs and veges.

I hope my veges get sprout soon.

RE: i got some annuals sprouting. very exciting

our weather is going to hit minus 3 celsius tonight, if i just cover the container lids, will my sprouts survive? Do i need to do something extra? For the last few weeks, the temperature was aboved zero all the time.

So far I got the followings sprouts: snapdragon, lettus, kate, broccoli, mustard, scabiosa, virginia stock, teddy bear sunflower and the ones I mentioned before ( bachelor's button, purple tansy, africa daisy, tricolor daisy, farewell to spring, mixed wildflower annuals, mixed wildflower perennials, gazania )

Sara, I didn't see your post last night, how did your seedlings do? The things you mention are reasonably cold hardy, hopefully they were fine with just the covers. Added insurance might have been an old sheet or tablecloth for a little more protection but that doesn't help you this morning!

We stayed 5 degrees warmer than you were concerned about here on the ocean with low temp right at freezing - all is fine with my pots on this sunny crisp day. Let us know...

they seems ok so far. What i did is, daytime i open up the plastic wrap cover if it is sunny ( around 4 degrees daytime), and after sunset, I put the plastic wrap back on plus putting a plastic lid from some tote box on top because the holes in the plastic wrap are too huge.

Hi Sara, so glad your sprouts are ok. I see your original question about posting pictures. Did you get it answered? You might know most of this already - I apologize if I am saying the obvious.

You need to post pictures elsewhere & link to them here. I clicked on your pics, copied & pasted the url into the code. Size as large as you wish by typing the number of pixels or resize in a graphics program to get the correct ratio, put on a separate line & enclose the code for each image in angle brackets. Angle brackets left out below so you can see the code, using 2 different sizes:
img src="http://www.howtovegetablegardening.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Chinese-mustard-2.jpg" width="300" height="225"
img src="http://www.howtovegetablegardening.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/water-cress.jpg" width="345" height="260"

You can hotlink to your vegetable site & show your pics in your posts. Some people are looking for a free photo site (not necessary if you already have a site) & the most popular is photobucket.com. I use fotki.com, others use flickr.com and picassa.com. You should see the pic when you click Preview Message.

Important: if you hotlink the pic, do not move the pic at the other site or you will break the link! People here will be glad to help you if you need further assistance - it is a little complicated here & we have all been there.
