WS perfectly, no problems. They are tender annuals and in your zone would not WS them before early April at the earliest. Mid April would be even better.
Just remember that tender annuals will not do well if they germinate and then get hit with winter cold, snow, ice etc.
That's why waiting till mid April is good timing.
One thing I do with my annuals, is to place them outside together. So if they do germinate and then mother natures throws us a curve ball, which she usually does, those annuals are grouped together and get covered overnight just to be safe.
I sowed just a few salpiglossis last year, and they didn't sprout. They were commercial seeds. Maybe I'll try a few this year too, later. I don't sow annuals until later either.
