Anyone have any experience in germinating these puppies?

If you mean WS, they are probably not a good candidate. These are tropicals, with the mature tubers unhappy below about 50F.
|
No, I didn't mean WS---I know they're semi-tropicals. (BTW, they're NOT tropicals, and the mature tubers have been surviving quite happily outdoors here in Zone 7. We've had some nights below 10 degrees, and the tubers live in large pots.) I just figured that most people who regularly visit the forum know a LOT about growing from seed, and I hear the Gloriosas are rather difficult. I can use any help I can get!

I actually didn't mean while dormant, but that during growth periods they are going to sulk at anything much below 50...That can mean much of our Spring here some years, they don't do well in my cool coastal Z8. (where it's alternating snow, hail, sleet, rain, sun today) T&M database says 70-75F (so bottom heat could be helpful), barely covered, peaty mix. Soaking overnight beneficial, germination 30+ days.
