I got calibrachoa seeds in a swap several years ago. They did wintersow well and germinate, but when they flowered they looked just like large petunias. After some reading online I found they are hybrids and patented and will not come true from seed. Other sources said they are sterile and won't even set seed. But, store bought plants I had did make some seed heads. So I got some conflicting info. I never found any reference online to anyone successfully growing them true to form from seed. You could try it as an experiment, but I wouldn't count on them if you really like calibrachoa.

I have found cuttings from these plants will root and bloom quite quickly. Buy a couple of plants early in the season and then take cuttings and stick in damp growing medium. In my growing zone, the cuttings will take root, grow and bloom the same season they are rooted.

Another plus, taking cuttings will force the mother plants to bush out and produce even more blooms during the season.
