I've had success with it sowing it when daytime temps are in the 50's/nighttime temps are in the 40's, which is February here. I looked at my records, and it germinated in 2 weeks under those conditions. It really is a lovely shade plant, and I am surprised that nurseries don't carry it.

That is great information. I'm learning to garden in almost total shade ( I have almost no area that can be considered full sun), so I'm on the lookout for variety and as many blooms as I can find that will thrive in shade. I've received a few packs of Browalia seeds in trades and I'm looking forward to trying them.

Geoseeds has the broadest selection of Browallia seeds as I've found, if you are looking for specific colors.

I hope with the spread of downy mildew in impatiens, that nurseries will start carrying Browallia in market packs at affordable prices. In the meantime, I'm hoping that I can wintersow enough to fill the beds I usually add color to with impatiens.

Big fan of browallia here! I also am shocked that this great plant is not seen more, I am going to run over to Geoseeds right now and see if they have different colors as I've just got the ordinarey blue (which I love).

I spring sow it as well. It isn't an early bloom here (starts maybemid July?) but goes and goes until the first frost.

I am in zone 7, WSed this one many years ago. It reseeds each year here, always popping up among my tomato beds.
