| I will sow my first seeds of the year. I'm late. I know. I've been busy with life. I'm using the tops of my two liters from last year with 1 gallon nursery containers. I might have to take them with me if I can sell this house in the spring. Less than 50 containers will be easy. I'm thinking I might make it to 25.
How ya'll been? |

| Hi Token - I've only sown the things that need a longer stratification, anything else that I'm putting outside still to do...It's really not late. 25-50 pots to move sounds manageable, do you have a place in mind to move them to or are you shopping? I'd have mixed feelings about moving my garden. Starting it over would be great - exciting but intimidating at the same time :) |

| Good to see you posting!!!!!!!!!!! So far I have about 90 or so containers done. The weather has been the pits.......last year I was Winter Sowing in my unheated greenhouse and was very comfy....this year I have to make a big mess in the kitchen....no sun out there to warm things up. I am super anxious to see how the butterfly bushes I sowed last year from the seed you gave me do. Come on Spring!!!!!!! You have much more self control than I do to be able to stop at 50 ;) |

Have you decided where you will move if you sell the house, Tom? Because I am hoping it's closer to Georgia...I know you'd mentioned it awhile ago :) It's been a cold winter here, and I've sown about 21 or so fair size containers, and if it wasn't raining so hard (and kind of unpleasant out) I'd go out and sow some more today. City works did some work at my neighbors place and tore up a good strip of my garden (needlessly) - they carted all the plants away (not threw them away mind you, carefully extracated them and TOOK THEM..I'm sure they are for someone's garden!!) and so I need to WS replacements instead of purchasing the good $300 worth of plants that came out of there. Thank-goodness for winter sowing! We suspect the replacements might cost us $10 in soil and seeds (at most) and then we probably need to get some soil as they "stole" all the great delicious composty soil and left me with bright red clay fill. However it's just another way I can educate my neighbors on the glorious effects of Winter Sowing. My across the street neighbor wants to learn how too! |

| That is horrible the city did that!! Well I guess I shouldn't say city, I guess I should say a city worker. Did you contact anyone about that?? That would just eat me up especially if it were some of my plants that I grew that take years to produce. |

| I've only done 9 jugs so far, and I don't remember what they were. They've been under snow for a long time. I do plan to do some annuals and tomatoes later, near spring. I'm not so sure that's "around the corner" like that rat Phil says. Karen |

Hi Tom! My WS containers are snug under nearly 5 ft. of snow with half of winter still ahead. According to my list, I've got quite a few penstemon WS as well as stokesia, blackberry lily and lady's mantle plus assorted others. I harvested Russian sage seeds this year so I've got a few jugs of those done. I focused on things I want lots of as well as things to fill in the big flowerbed on the south lawn. Should be an interesting spring once they start sprouting. |

| I've got all your seeds here Eileen. I'll be putting them out tomorrow. Following the almanac means I have to do it after work instead of today while I'm off. Aside from a few annuals, I don't have a whole lot left after the 20-ish I've prepped today. No idea where I'll go just yet. Going to have to stay here for a couple more years, so maybe rent an apartment. I'd like to see what I could do with a container garden again. |

| I know how that feels--bright sunshine & mild temps on a workday when you're stuck inside but rain/sleet/snow on the weekend when you want/need to be outside. I'm not letting that stop me this weekend and hope to round out those things that need cold stratification. I can take my time and WS things that don't need the cold as and when containers come my way. I'm not asking the neighbor (yet) to dumpster dive for me since the folks at work have been saving or bringing me about a half dozen every week. Something you might want to check out (if you haven't already) is toad lily (tricyrtis hirta) for moist shade. Blooms late and keeps going right up until frost. I grew them bare-root last year but am WS seeds this year. |

| Carolyn, this is just a drop in the bucket of what I've dealt with in this City. If I didn't love my neighborhood and my friends here I would throw in the towel. Nothing would become of my complaints. I already know that. Not one danged thing. I'm still totally surprised they helped my neighbor with her sewage because the first guy told her it was her problem and she'd have to pay to have it fixed (in the middle of the road??), and she is not of any means to have that work done! I was amazed that one city worker spoke up for her and got the job done! |
