| Hello,
This is my first year seriously wintersowing. I was checking my containers this morning and found that I have three types of lettuce seeds sprouting. I also have cabbage and dianthus seeds swelling in anticipation of sprouting. This seems a little too early to me. I live in the greater Columbus Ohio area and I know that winter is far from over. Is there anything that I should be doing to protect my sprouts? I could move them to a unheated sunporch or to my basement where I have light racks for my other seedlings.
Please, let me know. Karen |

| Don't worry - you'll soon find out that those tiny sprouts like the freeze thaw cycles just fine. Do nothing but enjoy and marvel at how well WS works. In Ohio, where we can go from winter to summer-like weather in a matter of days, WSing is the only way I've found to grow cool season veg well. You will be amazed at how well the little sprouts do. And remember, weed seeds in the garden are sprouting too and the freeze thaw cycles aren't worrying them a bit! Lettuce is as tough as chickweed. :) Lynda |

| Thanks for the input. Since I transplant many self sown marigolds, petunias and ornamental peppers each year,I should know that this method will work. I think I just like to worry. OT- My daughter turned 16 today. That gives me plenty to worry about. Maybe I can just let my seedlings take care of themselves. Karen |
