The pictures of Toms got me craving a BLT. We made one with Avocado slices once, it was YUM! Must be pig bacon, not any of that Turkey "Fak"on stuff. Mortgage Lifter Tom is my fave too.

Last summer it was with whatever bacon I had on hand, romaine lettuce, and pink brandywine tomato.

I lightly put mayo on both slices of bread, salt, pepper, then add the toms, lettuce, and bacon.

Doris, I agree it has to be real bacon. Nice and crisp.
And Miracle Whip, slightly toasted whole grain bread. I've used very thinly sliced cucumber (lettuce doesnt always agree with me)...adds a nice freshness.
Nothing better though than the simple goodness of bacon and fresh tomatoes :)

Toast the bread, usually wheatberry, spread on mayo or Miracle Whip, add lettuce, then tomato, then real bacon. I will use any fresh ripe garden heirloom slicing tomato. There are so many wonderfully delicious tomatoes and I grow 10 or more new to me each year, though always include Pink Caspian.

Glad to see other ideas as have never added s&p and now wonder why not? Avocado is another great suggestion.
