I found 3 Lupines just barely sprouting in the container. I found 4 Mustard green sprouts, but I noticed they got planted to deep. (brought them up).
I found 1 Calendula "Touch of Red" sprout. I would of missed it, if I had not re-looked.

I am tickled Pink, Red, Burgundy! (LOL)!

I love the lupine sprouts. For some reason they look so happy to me.

Look at those! Super! I have always loved Lupine...only had one plant one year and never tried to grow them again. I think I shall see if I can change that.

Matthew - they want lousy soil. I'm in the same zone(s) as you are and my folks practiced organic gardening here for 40+ years. Everywhere I dig there are big, fat worms so I know the soil is healthy. My lupines do okay but the neighbor next door whose soil is nothing but sand and rocks has GORGEOUS lupines.

The ones above are my own 'Chandelier' and they're growing about 60 ft. south of my neighbor's:

May sound silly but is there a way to make the soil less fertile to make lupines happy? Add sand? Something else? My raised beds I am building will be a good soil mix (soil-sand-hummus mix) Wondering what I can add to the area I plant my lupines to make them happy!

I found "Sea Lavender" sprouts, today. Hopefully, by Friday, it will be enough to take a picture of.
