Found this post this AM. To me it is better than a tranquilizer. Now I know when to check every hour on the hour!

Newbies: Absolutely NO worrying allowed about the absence of sprouts to date if you are in zone 7 or below !!! Your seeds are FINE. You didn't do ANYTHING wrong. We have only had a very little bit of warmth - - -they are getting ready and will come soon.
I always check my poppies first, as they have been first to germinate 3 years running...until I see sprouts in the poppy jugs, there is no point peering down all the jug spouts. I use poppy like a canary in the coal mine.

Patience, Patience, Patience

Thanks Nancy - almost one year later!

Last year was crazy cool we had a very late spring. Then once it hit spring it seemed as it went right into summer. I wouldn't go by last years performance for this year. Down here in tennessee our trees are budding, bulbs sprouting. It will be an early spring this year. With that said maybe if you keep waiting until march you may be extremely excited in a few weeks when you happen to stumble across some new sprouts.

This was taken the other day!! The bright green in the middle is my hyacinths sprouting!!

Hyacinth sprouting up

Today it has been snowing, we have about 5 inches on the ground!! Next week is suppose to be up in the mid 50's!! Who is ready to go fishing??

What has sprouted for me so far is Agastache, pink peony poppy,
and Laurens Grape poppy. I have never had poppies in my garden
before so looking forward to them. We have a 30% chance of snow
tomorrow. Maybe an inch. We have been dodging most of the storms
hitting the north and southeast.
