I bought a huge one and even after I secured it, the darn thing kept blowing away. I gave it away. Too bad b/c they look great.

I have a hunch that the twigs need to go pretty far in the ground to be sturdy. I have some very long, 1-inch diameter bamboo poles that I'm going to try to use for a tepee. Here's a link I found that gives some instructions for tepees and how to tie the sticks together (this was the part that had me stumped). Good luck!

Although I don't WS my container bush cukes, I do make teepees out of twigs/branches for them.

I used 6 relatively straight, heavy branches about 2" thick and 8 feet tall to form a teepee for my cukes and squash. Tied the tops with nylon rope. Despite 6-7 foot snow and 50 mph wind they're still standing. I liked it so much that I'm going to make another 3 teepees. [ once the snow clears]

Last year I bought thin bamboo really cheap at a garden store. I made teepee like cages for my tomatoes. They lasted well and once I got them in the ground most of them did great!

I just yanked some out that were in pots. They weathered well.

I love the twigs, nice way to repurpose some trimmings!!

Sweet peas climb by tendrils and twiggy branches are perfect for them - better, in fact than smooth poles. I grow both my sweet peas and my garden peas on twiggy sticks. Sweet pea plants are quite light and flimsy and don't create much wind resistance.

Morning glories climb by twining stems and would be happy on smooth poles. Unless your branches are well anchored and sturdy MGs might prove too heavy as they put on growth, especially when wet.
