I'm not sure about the variaties that you are planting, but I usually grow Candy and a Cipollini that are wintersown. I,m in NE Ohio and they do just fine. I supply my neighbors with vegetable plants in the spring. I always plant more than I can use. Luke

The leeks for sure will do fine. I do it all the time and they grow well all summer, through the fall, and usually into the next spring. We are eating leeks pulled from the garden all winter this year in zone 7. Even after a harsh winter they survive. If you don't pick them in early spring, though, they will go to flower/seed. Makes a nice tall addition to the garden scene, and you get free seeds for the next year. (The seed do take quite a while to mature, though.)

I'm not sure about the bulbing onions, as my experience with them has been so mixed in any case. Once in a while I get big bulbs, usually small, and I haven't kept good track of which were WS and which sown in the house. I hope more experienced--and organized!-- WSers will chime in for you on the issue of whether they will get enough growth before the summer solstice.
