I winter sowed my saved lupin seeds in some uncovered take-out trays, mainly because I didn't want them to sprout too early if it got nice and warm in there. I figured I'd start covering them once they sprouted. Well, then I proceeded to forget about them because they're behind my house and I just never look there, and now I see that not only have they sprouted, but they've already got those cute lobed leaves growing, and it only just turned February! What are they thinking!!

The Pacific NW is not known for how much sunshine and heat we get over the winter, and I don't want the plants to be weak, stunted leggy things once I plant them out. Is there a way I can keep them from growing more or dying from the cold? It's so early the crocuses haven't even come up yet.
