I want to purchase some strawberry heirloom seeds. Does anyone have any suggestions where to purchase from? Also, can asparagus be wintersown? Any other kind of berries, fruits, or odd vegetables?

Sheffields had a nice selection of shrubs and fruit. I found varieties of strawberries, hardy kiwi, blueberry and cranberries there that I am trying this year. Also, www.rareseeds.com They have a lot of unique seeds and they are all heirlooms.
Here is a link that might be useful: Sheffields Seeds

I am wsing alpine strawberry which is actually a native. I will say I have heard good things or read good things about all of those, yummm!! As far as starting the seed I am sorry I am clueless on those. Though tradewindsfruitstore.com has some unusual plants at pretty good prices. They have several currants, several alpine strawberries, hardy kiwi, hardy plantain, raspberries, marion berry, hardy ground cherries, goji berry, and many many others. Free shipping in the us on orders of 7.50 or more.

I believe asparagus can be winter sown in my area if I am not mistaken. Though it will take about 3 to 5 years to be of a size to where you will be able to harvest it from seed. That is the main reason people will go with the asparagus crowns rather than the seeds. I may have some asparagus seed next year if you do not find any this year if you are interested. Well I say next year but come this late summer early fall I should of said. Though I do not know what kind it is. I also will be collecting some mulberry seeds about late spring. I think it may be a white mulberry, they take 10 years to produce but it is a beautiful tree!! Best tasting berry I have ever eaten, that is if I can beat the deer and wild turkeys to them. Mulberry experts, this one has 2 types of leaves. Does that sound like the white or have I mistaken it??
