| The link below shows a map with a weather variety index and has a list of cities that are ranked. I live just outside Springfield, MO which is listed as the number one city with the most weather variety. : ( I don't want to be number one. lol
It would be so helpful for all of us if the weather did the same thing every year so we'd know what to expect. Maybe then I would know when to winter sow my annuals. : ) |

| Well Christie, you're #1 and according to that map, I live in the #2 city. I agree with you...not a list I wish to be at the top of! |

| I wouldn't be quick to trade with you Nancy. I think you're closer to tornado alley than I am. I'll keep my number #1. : ) I've always lived in Missouri and when I was a new gardener, it took me awhile to realize that plant recommendations from people living in eastern states didn't always do well here even if they had the same zone as mine. Our summers are hotter and some plants don't appreciate that. It's the erratic winter temperatures and lack of snow that impacts winter sowing here. I am beginning to wonder if some people have better luck than others winter sowing annuals because of where they live. Perhaps seeds are more likely to be fooled in the central states and germinate early. What do you think? |
