| Hello, all. I am new to winter sowing...actually, though I am a pretty experienced gardener I am new to growing from seed. I am about to try winter sowing (Nicotiana alata, Nigella hispanica and Verbena bonariensis) and while I will try the standard process I have found online, one thing that occurred to me to try was to use these "mini-greenhouses" I have.
They are black plastic trays with drainage slits with clear plastic domes that sit on top, and are about one foot by two feet. I was thinking I could fill peat pots (the ones about the size of a coffee mug) with moist potting soil, sow, put them in the mini-greenhouse, tape it shut, punch some holes, and set that out. Then, when they are ready I would simply plant the peat pots where I want them. Any thoughts, suggestions or concerns? |
