Congrats drippy!! Happy sprout dance happening here for your Joe Pye! I never throw away seeds--just note the year harvested on them and sow them when I get a mind to add them to the flowerbeds. Some years there are seeds I'm not interested in growing; other years they might be top of the list. As long as they're dry and stored right, they can last for a long time.

Drippy I am right along with you at planting old seeds. My problem is that I ALWAYS tend to think ok since they are old I will sow extra for that just in case factor. Well lol I always sow to many and have great germination. Like the black hollyhock I received those in a sasbe last spring and they were labeled 2008. I have had awesome germination out those little boogers!!

Thanks, folks! Indeed, it is great to finally have a place to do some real gardening again - if only I can keep the plants alive while I get used to new soil and weather and critter conditions. Joe Pye should be fine, though; plenty of it grows wild around here. I have never seen so many butterflies in my life as when I moved to Alabama - they are going to love the JP!
