Shredded paper

| Will it be a good idea to put my shredded white paper
in the soil of my flower beds. I have used pete moss but
I would like to make it more loose in some places . I will
also be planting a few veggies. My radishes and peppers
did well this last summer. Any comments ? |

| Paper attracts earthworms and other critters that break down organic matter. I use newspaper and cardboard in mine. Just make sure there's no glossy stuff. It'll be gone in less than a year. |

| Thank you, Token. I will be putting some out soon. I have plenty. Let the worms come :) caroline |

| I have used shredded paper in the compost pile, and also thrown it into layers on a lasagne bed. Personally I don't like the bright white or other odd colors of paper in the garden, so I cover it with something else (usually leaves). The brown of cardboard and paper leaf bags is less visible though. |

| I've also used it in lasagne beds as an underlayer. Like terrene, I don't really want to see it or have it blown to other places in my yard. I wet it thoroughly before I cover it with something else. Ellen |

I thank you all for the response. I will wet it down , then cover with some new soil. I don't like white showing either, looks like trash, :) caroline |
