They will be a little later vs started indoors, but they will be much healthier plants! For instance, when I WS my tomatoes I compare them to those started indoors. While the indoor ones are up quicker, the WS tomatoes will be obviously healthier with thicker stems. Once hardened off and planted out, they catch up quickly.

It's still really early--first day of spring isn't until Sunday at 7:12 p.m. I checked my notes from last year and the earliest blooms I had were mallow 'Vulcan,' California poppy, gaura/wandflower, nasturtium and peony poppy. They bloomed in May & June.

Right now I just have tiny sprouts of Viscaria in my jugs but in the beds I have some crocus that are starting to bloom with lots more on the way to blooming.

It just takes time (says the vey impatiant person). I like quick results myself but winter sowing and just starting plants you have to follow their (the plants) schdule and not your own. They will be bloom and psrout when they are darn good and ready and not a second sooner. hehe

But they will bloom thier little heads off once they get going.
