| Thank you all for the wealth of information here, and inspiring me to try! I read a ton on this forum, got occasionally confused, fretted about getting it just right, and finally just went for it. Now I have sunflowers, catchfly, poppy and bachelor buttons all sprouting! I was unnaturally excited yesterday when I found the sprouts, and my boyfriend will probably scream if he hears "can you believe it worked?" one more time.
So, is it too late for me to sow more? I have the following seeds still to sow: Zinnia (profusion and giant cactus) Cosmos (3 colors) Larkspur Marigold Monarda And with temps below freezing forecast for the next few nights, should I stash the sprouts in the garage at night? Thank you all again for My New Obsession! |

| Congrats... not sure of your zone but I am waiting before planting my marigold and zinnia. They don't like cold. The Mondarda plant now. For me it grew well. |

| I sow seeds in the winter all the way through spring. The only seeds that you have to watch are those that need a cold period to germinate. Marigolds, cosmos, and zinnias are tender and you'll want to wait until closer to your last frost date to sow. I'm in NE Ohio and my last frost date is May 15th. I plan to start mine in mid-April. I have wintersown zinnia before and as soon as the temps drop their leaves burn and they shrivel up and croak. Lol* So that's why it's good to wait! Larkspur I believe is one that needs cold, I started mine a few weeks ago. You could always try them though. Monarda I have sown all throughout spring with success. :) |

| I'm in Zone 5b, central CT. Based on your advice I will do the larkspur and monarda today hold off on the others. thanks! |
