I have read quite few people sowing Spinach. Spinach plants do not grow big, each plant have few leaves so you will have to grow spinach in lot of containers in order to harvest meaning crop. Am I missing something? I have never grown spinach hence do not know how much crop you get from the plants.

I'm growing spinach for the first time this year. Since I use containers to grow vegetables, I don't plan on large harvests. Normally, I just cook for my cat and myself, so small harvests don't matter. I have pooor soil in my yard, hense I must use containers. And if it' a small harvest, well, that beats no harvest at all. :) I can't tell you how much I treasure my fresh vegetables from the garden.

What tempusflits said. I grow spinach in windowboxes; pick the leaves when they're young, and the plant keeps growing more. A little side of wilted spinach with garlic and oil .... yum! Over the season, I get enough for a few meals. Nothing beats eating fresh from the plants.
