Slightly OT but you are my favorite forum!

I have a slope on the southwest side of my house that is dangerous to mow. I'm putting down newspaper/cardboard and covering with compost, then cedar mulch. I'd like to plant a variety of shrubs and perennials and/or evergreens that will help hold the soil.

Any ideas? I have blue fescue seeds (they WS'ed really great for me two years ago).

Some of the quick fixes seems like they would be a problem later. What are your thoughts on yarrow/achillea?

Many thanks!
