| I have a slope on the southwest side of my house that is dangerous to mow. I'm putting down newspaper/cardboard and covering with compost, then cedar mulch. I'd like to plant a variety of shrubs and perennials and/or evergreens that will help hold the soil.
Any ideas? I have blue fescue seeds (they WS'ed really great for me two years ago). Some of the quick fixes seems like they would be a problem later. What are your thoughts on yarrow/achillea? Many thanks! |

| I love vinca (periwinkle) for problem areas. |

| Isn't this pretty slow-growing? Especially facing south? TIA |

| Ajuga produces pretty purple spike blooms early spring, creeping sedum that blooms yellow and you can't kill it. Ajuga will die out from crown rot about every 3 or 4 yrs. but spreads and its foliage is a pretty color. Vinca(aka periwinkle)would be nice as Drippy mentioned. I'm sure I'll think of something else. Make a rock garden there and you could sow annual alyssum. There are several colors besides the white. Perennial candytuft is another. There is another yellow/gold plant..I think it is called Basket of Gold. Also ice plant is a type of sedum and it gives you color and spreads nicely. |

| Thanks! I think the basket of gold is another alyssum. Maybe I'll do a nice variety and see how things go. Thanks!!! |
