| Hi everyone,
I Winter Sowed some annual Sweet Peas and they are starting to vine. They're reaching toward the top of the container. My other sprouts are fine (except Ipomopsis rubra, those got fried). Where I'm going to plant the Sweet Peas are at the back steps to grow up the lattice. The dryer vent is under the back steps as well so they would have some warmth in case it gets cold at night. What should I do? Going to try and plant more seeds today. It won't be much since I only have one bag of soil, but they still matter :). Brad AKA Moonwolf |

| Did you plant them in milk containers or soda bottles? Did you soak them in water ? Can you describe your method including how many days it took to sprout? I had sown my peas about 10 days ago and by now they should have sprout. I'm not sure if we should use containers to plant peas as they like cooler temps and on a warm day temp inside the container might get hot. The only reason I don't want to plant them directly in the ground is bugs might get them. |

| I planted them in milk jugs. I did not soak them in water. All I did was prepare and filled a milk jug, planted them, labeled the jug, and sealed it. I remember reading about Sweet Peas and they don't like the heat. The two varieties I planted, Old Spice Mix and Mammoth Mix, are heat resistant varieties and they still look good. Where I'm planning to put them faces east and it gets sun from sunrise until early afternoon. I'll plant some other kind of annual vine after the Sweet Peas fade. Brad AKA Moonwolf |

| Your sweet peas need to be hardened off and planted asap. They can cope with cool temperatures, even a light frost. I don't think the dryer vent will do them much good. It might even upset them. They need consistent coolth not sudden bursts of warm air. They have very fine tendrils so they might need some help on the lattice - maybe a few strings. |

| Thank you, Flora! Hmm, now to find a different location for them. I'll take the tops off the jugs and let them get some fresh air and harden off. Keeping my fingers crossed. Brad AKA Moonwolf |
