hyacinth bean seeds

Just wondering if there is any way to start these by winter sowing them. We are having a very warm spring and the temps are predicted to get even warmer. I started them in the ground last year, and because our growing season isn't as long as it is in the south, they never got very big.

Lisa, I'm much further North than you and I have direct sowed them in past years (before I knew anything about witer sowing), and found they grew extremely well. Just be sure they receive full sun. I'll be growing them this year, first year in a long time, and plan to direct sow them to grow up a trellis near my front door. Looking forward to them.

Interesting, I wonder why mine did so poorly. Maybe a little more compost this year.

I believe they take about 3 weeks to germinate. I'm going to winter sow some, and then direct sow some more.
