Are my containers supposed to be in sun or shade? I've had them in the shade this whole time ( 2 months or so). When do i move them to sun?

They should be in the sun to germinate. When they are mostly germinated, remove the tops and move them to dappled shade. It's that easy. think like a seed. They need sun to warm the soil and germinate and dappled shade to prevent their tiny little leaves from frying in the hot sun.

Can i put them all in a morning sun/afternoon shade location? I'd remove tops of germinated and leave the tops on the ones that haven't.

Yes. My "jug spot" has morning sun and afternoon shade and the seedlings have been happy there for years! Wait... that didn't sound right. Each seasons' seedlings have been happy there till planted!!!! that's better.

I have also used morning sun, afternoon shade with success for many years. You're in a more northern zone and more sun probably isn't so bad there. But as bakemom mentioned, be sure not to let them overheat after they germinate. Opening the jug will prevent overheating. Karen
