Tomato not germinated - but 80 degree weather - what to do?

Hi-
I got some heirloom tomato seeds from Trudi and I don't want them to die. I ws'ed them last weekend and put them on the east facing porch. They haven't germinated yet -- but we're having high 70's this week and 80's this weekend. I'm afraid they'll cook if I keep the tops on.

What do you think? Tops on or off?
thanks
Peg

Warm here too....I have some in peat pots that finally germinated in this weather. I used some loose plastic on top. I found without the plastic they would not come up. Aunt Ruby's German Greens - just have to try some fried green tomatoes. I say use some loose plastic and keep the soil misted.

The former tomato winer is potting up San Marzanos and Better Boys. I feel like a genius. They transplant so easy. I actually have a dozen for the local foodbank church gardens - If they want them.
