Tecoma stans Mayan gold winter sow?

I got a seed pack of the new Tecoma stans Mayan gold to try out as a container plant. I know its a large shrub/small tree in zone 9, but they are pushing it as an annual for zones 4-8 that could get 2-3 feet tall. Now the question is do I wintersow the seeds or wait until all frost is past and spring sow it.

Anybody have any insight?

I don't have any insight unfortunately, but I got some Tecoma stans in a trade, and just for an experiment ws'd them in late Jan. I'm interested to hear others' experiences as well.

No insight from experience, but it looks as though these germinate best (surface sown) at approx 70-75 with no pre-chill required if that helps you to make up your mind. Something else to consider - "blooms 12-16 weeks from seed" and it looks like germination can take anywhere from 5-20 days, possibly adding another two or more weeks there from sowing.

In my cool summer area I think I'd need to get these going sooner rather than later if I wanted to enjoy more than the foliage....your climate could differ.
