You know it depends on where your zone 6 is. Are you on the east coast?? Are you in the central states??

I only ask this cause my zone 6b is totally different than even 7a on the east coast. They are still dealing with cold and wet while I am walking barefooted in my garden and planting out.

I did marigolds yesterday. Have yet to do the sunflowers, but just because I haven't gotten around to them. You can do them now.

Thanks for the info. I'm in eastern PA and we had some lovely sleet/snow to start the spring season off.

Well, I'll give the marigolds and sunflowers a try. I'm always seeing volunteers of them popping up in the garden.

Remember it will take them a bit to sprout, so snow won't bother them and they'll be pretty safe in their little containers anyway.

We didn't have sleet or snow down in SE PA, but we had a thunderstorm this morning. Yesterday was beautiful, though. Got one of the gardens rototilled and ready for the lettuce and broccoli.

If you get any critters in your yard at all I have this advice. Once you get sunflower sprouts keep the lids on till they out grow the container. Otherwise there are several birds/squirrels that like to snip them off. I had lots of them go that way.
