| Hey there.
I need advice to help my brother in Tacoma with some dates to set out jugs, etc for vegetables. - various types and thei related dates to sow. I think it is something his four children could really enjoy. Also any tips on where to get some good reasonable compost in the area for his raised beds? Thanks SO much! Lynn |

| The winters aren't that cold in Tacoma(I so miss those dreary, rainy winters), so people are probably direct-sowing there now, but Jan and Feb are the coldest months(rarely below freezing)so that's when I did my first WSing when I lived near there. Hopefully others who are currently living there will post with their experiences. I don't know if "Zoo-doo"(compost from the Point Defiance Park Zoo) is still available, but was very popular. City and county Public Works departments are a good source of compost(they collect trimmings and such from yards, landscaping, and storm damage, then compost it all and sell it later. There are also farms in the outlying areas. HTH |
