The best thing is that hopefully you are instilling a love of gardening in them! I say hopefully because my kids were interested when they were little, and couldn't care less now, lol. But I hope that they will come back to it later in life.

Yes, funny how things take so much longer with all that "help", huh? :) And I bet they will want to check those containers every day. I know I do, lol!

My 5 year old really got into helping me this year. While I was planting seeds back in Jan, he brought me an apple seed from his freshly consumed apple and insisted that we give it a container. We did and it actually sprouted. It's the tallest sprout. Crazy.

Fun. LOL My 7yog loves to help and really makes herself useful. But my 6yog and 2yog want to help specifically plant seed and well it's not as helpful. ;)

The kids and I, are doing baby pumpkins, watermelon and cantaloupe. Their choices.

My boys were in their teens when I started ws and they never had much interest. The oldest, who's now a senior in college, was always willing to do the manual labor of turning the ground over for me and that was the biggest help of all. He's been replaced by a small rototiller the last few seasons.
