I transplant all woody plants (trees, vines and shrubs) into their own small pots and let them grow on for at least a year before transplanting to the landscape. Some end up staying in pots for longer because I can't figure where to transplant them.

Congrats on your flame azalea sprouts. I've sown those too this year, but no sprouts yet! X my fingers

Thanks for your input terrene! I was afraid you'd say that! I have grown rhodies from seed ( not w/s) and only a few survived. I think I was heavy handed w/the watering :( This time around, I covered the seeds lightly w/bits of cedar "leaf" and pine needles to try and maintain moisture so that I don't have to water too often. I was kind of hoping there'd be a magical technique for putting the seedlings out so that I'd have little chance of killing them....I have found quite of few flames sprouting in rotting wood...so maybe when they get a bit bigger I'll try something like this.
