HOS and covers

First year winter/springsower here...I have a bunch of the lasagna pans that are filled with petunia seeds and zinnia seeds. They are sprouting and have 2 little leaves on them now. Since it has been so cold here I have them in sun for most of the day should I keep them in the sun or move them to the shade? It's just been so rainy cold I think it is slowing them down. But I dont want to fry them. About covers, do I take them completly off during the day? What if half the pan is sprouting but the other is not? Do I leave the cover on?
Then, when do I seperate out the HOS? How big do they need to be to do that?
Any words of wisdom is welcome. Thanks.

RE: HOS and covers

First, learn that if you're going to divide a container into different seeds, it will be easier to do 2 similar kinds. (i.e. 2 different petunias or 2 different zinnias).

I would poke more holes in the lids if you haven't already. Move them to morning sun only, less chance of overheating on hot afternoons. Keeping the lids on is beneficial in that it will increase humidity to help germination. Unfortunately it can also cause overheating on a warm sunny day, killing seedlings already present.

RE: HOS and covers

I only put one kind of seed per pan. I was just worried about my zinnia pan that has half sprouted and the other has nothing. But I will move all of them to a place that has afternoon shade.

When are the sprouts big enough to seperate out of the HOS? They now have 2 little leaves on them.

Thanks for the response. Every little bit helps!
