This is my first year wsing Petunias. I sowed mine about a month ago, and they sprouted pretty quickly, but the sprouts are teeny tiny. I wonder how long it will take them to flower! I would say go for it, probably they will just flower later.

I just sowed mine a couple of days ago, into hanging pots,I placed plastic over them to keep them for being washed away with all this rain,I will check on them later and let you know how they are doing, oh, I used clothes pins to keep the plastic closed.

I've only started a few so far this year and they have barely sprouted. It's just been too chilly here. In the past, I've found they grow quickly in warm weather. I say go for it!

The skinny on petunias is that they will bloom 6-8 weeks from sowing. That's generally how it works for me. The latest I sowed petunias was in late April 2008; by mid June they were blooming in their seeding pots. They just got fuller and more floriferous (is that a word?) as the season progressed. They were still going strong when a hard frost took them out sometime in late November.

Go ahead and sow them now. I still have a few to sow myself.
